You’ll PROBABLY be OK, but we can’t officially support you since Java 9 is still in beta. If your machine is already a bit slow, this won’t help matters any.Īnd if you have a hi-res display, you’ll definitely want to use the native look and feel…and run Java 9 JDK on Windows. If you’re going to use the Oracle Look and Feel, then that will ‘cost a bit extra’ – or in other words, it might take more resources to run. Other BenefitsĪpart from being able to control exactly how your application will look, you’re ALSO telling Java that it can rely on the OS to take care of this. How do I know if I have the correct Java version for BlueJ on MacOS XBlueJ crashes on MacOS Mojave (while dialog is. Netbeans is a great fit when it comes to development with Java persistence API, JSP, spring, struts, servlets, web services and Hibernate frameworks. The NetBeans IDE is primarily intended for development in Java but also supports other languages, in particular, PHP, C/Cand HTML5. Same key concept, change your look and feel to OS X. Netbeans can be installed and used on Mac, Windows, and Linux. I’d show you how this works on a Mac, but I don’t have a Mac anymore. Oracle looks better but Windows will run leaner Play around with your OS setting to find something you like/li> Activating theme Start Netbeans Navigate to theme import dialog: Tools > Options > Fonts & Colors > Import.Go into preferences, and change the Look and Feel from ‘Oracle’ to whatever your OS is.On Windows 10, that would be something like this. But that’s OK – it’s fixed in Java 9, and that appears to work just fine with SQL Developer v17.2. the Plugins menu in Netbeans.Apparently SQL Developer doesn’t look super awesome on some Windows high-resolution displays (Macs are apparently A-OK!) 4 and 5k monitors. I really like the dark theme (Dracula) that comes with PHPStorm and the other JetBrains IDEA family IDE’s and to my surprise I was shocked to find that someone has actually very recently developed and released one…Īlthough at present the folder icons in the project explorer panel do not match the ones that come with the JetBrains IDEA IDE’s the developer is apparently working on getting them added! Since recently purchasing my latest MacBook Pro, I went through the motions of re-installing all of my software development tools again and went on the hunt for a dark theme that looks similar to that of the PHPStorm theme for NetBeans. I’ve personally used NetBean for about five years now I’ve learn’t to love it and despite all the “cool kids” recently moving to the likes of PHPStorm and Sublime Text, everytime I try to switch over I just miss my trusty NetBeans and come flying back.
